ADMINISTRATIVE QUALITY SPECIALIST

The Administrative Quality Specialist is a shared position that primarily provides administrative support to the Infection Prevention & Control and Education & Accreditation Services departments. Administrative functions include telephone reception, scheduling and coordination of meetings, transcription and distribution of minutes, data entry, filing and calendaring, among others. In addition, this position utilizes expertise to provide data analysis as directed; collects, analyzes and reports clinical elements for initiatives as directed according to established standards and deadlines.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

2.Ensures compliance with all safety requirements in accordance with hospital risk management and safety policies and procedures.
3.Adheres to policies and procedures of the department.
4.Administrative/Secretarial Support (approx.50%) Provides administrative/secretarial support for the Infection Prevention and Education and Accreditation Services departments to ensure organized operations, competent staff and excellent customer service.
5.Chart Abstraction/Analysis (approx. 20%)- Extracts, manipulates and analyzes data to provide information to hospital management and staff and requested.
6.Data Entry/Reporting (approx. 20%) Performs data entry, analysis and creates reports to ensure an accurate reflection of information.
7.Special Projects (approx.10%)- Performs special projects and activities as assigned to support the Infection Prevention and Education & Accreditation departments.
8.Determines priorities in workload and completes projects in an accurate and timely manner. Performs other duties as assigned.
Associate s degree preferred.
Certification in one or more of the following areas: RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician), RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator) or CPHQ (Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality) preferred.
Two years of equivalent work experience required, in a healthcare setting.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, including Word and Excel software programs required.
Experience with auditing, data abstraction, analysis, data entry and reporting.
Experience with meeting minutes, facilitation and agenda planning.
Knowledge of basic records maintenance and retrieval systems.
Familiarity with medical terminology strongly preferred.
Familiarity with CPT and ICD 10 coding guidelines preferred
Typing 60+ CWPM strongly preferred
Proficiency with Google email/calendaring and scheduling strongly preferred.
Excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with interruptions and changing priorities
Ability to work independently, prioritize workload and complete assigned projects within established time frames required and work with minimal or no supervision
Superior problem solving skills with a high degree of reliability and accuracy required
